We stayed in the area for two nights and ate at Il Bar Il Mare twice, once for lunch then for dinner. Paccheri al Ragi’ di dentice (w snapper) was so tasty I had it twice. Octopus, best ever. Very nice service and taste. If you’re looking for a good seafood restaurant, this place might not look fancy but definitely tastes better than fancy restaurants.

If I could give this place another star I would! Il Bar Sotto Il Mare was a short walk from our Airbnb. My boyfriend was craving seafood and stumbled upon this place. We went for a late night dinner close to 10PM and they happily seated us. The portions were huge for the prices and it was quality tasting food. I ordered the seafood ravioli with cream sauce and my boyfriend got the seafood pasta. They both tasted divine! Our server recommended the fish with pureed beans and it was perfectly cooked and flavorful. If you're around Vatican and suddenly find yourself craving for seafood that's not that pricey I recommend this place. Staffs are nice and the food is worth every penny, the restaurant can be busy at times so don't forget to call in advance for your reservation.
A place to be recommended to others who craves to eat fresh seafoods. Staff are polite and helpful giving information about the menu. More or less 10 minutes walk from the vatican museum. It opens at 12:30pm you can do walk-ins or reservations.
Fresh seafood, nicely seasoned and carefully cooked to a high standard. Hostess is kind and helpful although we couldn't speak any Italian. The menu in Italian has an English version that's exactly the same. Looks like a family restaurant liked by the locals.
Service - welcoming, atmosfer - relaxing, food - outstanding. Very recommended.

Couldn’t recommend this place enough. My boyfriend and I came here because we read some good reviews. It’s a small spot with very nice staff. Got pretty busy around 830pm on a Monday. This place had the best seafood and ravioli I’ve ever had. We split the tartar, sea bass ravioli, and the white wine swordfish. It was incredible. When I come back to Rome I will definitely be coming back here.

Literally the best grilled prawns we’ve ever had. Seafood carpaccio (yellowfin) with red peppercorns and rucola also delicious - beats Nobu. Spaghetti with mixed seafood was perfectly cooked and flavoured. Friendly and helpful service! Would definitely recommend. Patrons all seem local which is always a good sign!

We were recommended this restaurant from a local. Amazing seafood dishes. Extremely fresh. Great service and family-owned restaurant vibe. You might have to wait a little if you don’t have a reservation for dinner, but it’s worth the wait! We got the fried calamari and shrimp to start. I got the vermicelli with clams and my husband got the carbonara with swordfish. Both were amazing!

Grand seafood and inexpensive house wine. Atmosphere is backstreet Roma, nothing fancy or historic behind and adjacent to Tronfoly Market, very safe and easy to locate. Friendly staff, enjoyed being outside in the 70 degree early Fall night in Roma with my sweet wife.
